The Grand’Maison hydroelectric dam is truly worth your attention.
In operation since 1987, it stands at nearly 1,700 m altitude and holds back 140 million m3 of water. It is connected to Lac du Vernet (just below Casa Dahu) by pipes buried in the mountain, and it remains France’s most powerful hydroelectric dam to this day.

If the history of this dam and its performance interest you, the Hydrélec Museum (located at the foot of the road up to Vaujany) welcomes visitors from late May to late September.
